Thanksgiving and such

We heard that raw, not canned, pineaple can help to boost the immune system. So we have been loading Brayden full of it. He doesn't really like to be fed these days, and some days, when he isn't feeling good, he doesn't want to eat. But we have a few favorites stored in our back pocket, and luckily one of them is pineaple. However, we have to puree it for him. So we put it in an ice cream cone with some cottage cheese, and viola! Lunch! He loves it.
He gets so excited to eat it that the other day, much like anything else he grabs, he shook it.

And the pineapple cottage cheese mix...well it landed right on top of his head.

He didn't seem to mind though.

Grizzly usually helps with the clean up.

Sometimes, he tries to clean up before Brayden is done eating. But it isn't really fair when Brayden is handing him the cracker.

Here he is, all 30 inches of him, from head to toe. He is so tall!

At Thanksgiving Dinner, Brayden just couldn't resist Auntie Deandra's glasses. He is such a cute nerd!

Hope you had a happy Thanksgiving!

mommie thoughts

I wish I was posting cute pictures of Brayden right now. But at home, we finally have super slow internet connection, and photos take hours of time to upload, so I will continue to do that from work.

In the meantime, these are my meandering thoughts for today. My little one is sick again...or still. His third antibiotic can't seem to keep a double ear infection clear, or even stop a upper respitory infection from attacking his little chest. It can't keep him from coughing so hard his little lips and nose turn blue and purple as he hacks. It can't stop him from throwing his breakfast up as he coughs. And all the emergency room can offer us is another chest x-ray or blood work, but his lungs sound clear so why subject him to that kind of tourture if we don't have to. I hate that I have to drop him off at daycare where he picks up and distributes germs to his little buddies, but Jeremiah and I don't have any vacation time left. I have never felt so defeated in my life.

Brayden's Dedication

Well, you may ask, "What exactly is a dedication?" That is a very good question. A Baptism is an outward symbol to the world that you are a follower of Christ. A dedication is taking a special moment to thank God for the incredible blessing that he has bestowed upon us, and to ask Him to bless Brayden and help us to guide him until he is old enough to make the baptism decision for himself.

We had a very peacful little ceremony at Uncle Nick's house. The youth paster came to the house and asked us and Brayden's godparents, Uncle John and Auntie Deandra, to guide him spiritually and to pray for us as we help him to grow. Tina, the youth pastor, took some time to ask us and remind us that God was the center of the household (...As for me and my house, we shall serve the Lord) and blessed us as a family, and reminded us that children are like arrows-they need to be pointed toward the target. It was a really cool dedication. I just wish Brayden was old enough to remember it. He was very good in his little dress shirt and tie, St. Chritopher's medal and bracelet. He let us touch his head as we prayed for his mind, his little chest as we prayed (quickly) for his heart, his feet, his hands and his little mouth (only mamma on that one).

We didn't get too many pictures, but he was so cute in his little outfit, that I will post the ones that we did get.

Halloween's Cutest Pachyderm!

Brayden had a great Halloween...Trick or Treating was a hit and very fun way to meet all of the neighbors. I have to say, I think he was the cutest little elephant. He didn't seem to mind it too much when we were out in the cold, but inside he was ready to be himself again. His origional costume was a monkey, but we bought that way back in September and he grew out of his growing room by the time Halloween rolled around. So on the 30th we were scrambeling!

Grammie Tammy and Grandpa Steve even came down to help us celebrate. Grammie Tammy fed Brayden (part) of his first peanut butter cookie and some fruit leather. The fruit leather was great...he sucked and smacked on that stuff for a good 10 minutes!

He has been getting bored with Mamma and Dadda feeding him, so last night, he actualy fed himself his entire dinner. Which, suprisingly, freed up a lot of time. I was kind of shocked!

And he has been having fun with his old buddy again. Nothing like a good dog (when he's being a good dog).
