Our Little One's Biggest friend

Little Brayden has quite a few friends these days...the giraffe and elephant on his swing mobile, and the raccoon and porcupine on his bouncy chair are just a few of them. He loves to tell them stories using his arms and legs and looking around like he has an entire audience. It is very funny. But this, this is his biggest friend (and I think the one that loves him the most):

Baby of Mine

Baby mine, don't you cry
Baby mine, dry your eyes
Rest your head close to my heart
Never to part, baby of mine
Little one when you play
Don't you mind what they say
Let those eyes sparkle and shine
Never a tear, baby of mine
If they knew sweet little you
They'd end up loving you too
All those same people who scold you
What they'd give just for
The right to hold you
From your head to your toes
You're not much, goodness knows
But you're so precious to me
Cute as can be, baby of mine

Cutest baby!

In the new vibrating bouncy chair, where he can kick to his hearts content!

Doesn't he kinda look like Danielle?

9 weeks-some quick pics!

Brayden is so close to laughing, we are trying so hard to catch it on camera. It is really hard though, because he is normally a bit camera shy (or fascinated by it). But Daddy is hilareous, so he works the camera!

He loves to sleep on his tummy and when he is having a hard time going to sleep, this is where he can finally relax. So, we have broken the cardinal rule, and occasionally Brayden takes very peaceful naps in his crib on his tummy (checked every 30 seconds).

More smiles:

We will survive

Not too much new this last week. It has returned to frigid and snowing around here so Brayden and I have been focusing on finding daycare for the dreaded day of seperation. The pediatrician says it is always harder on mom and dad then it is on baby, and that is reassuring. The great news is that Kayla (http://cookinkayla.blogspot.com/) has agreed to spend some of her maternity leave with Brayden so we can take a little longer finding care. One minute I am telling myself it is fine, no big deal, people do it every day...the next I find myself in the middle of the ugly cry wondering who will give him his pacifier and reassuring myself that he is a cute baby so that will make people want to hold and cuddle him despite the fact that he poops VERY stinky poops.

Speaking of the pediatrician, Brayden is now 8 weeks old, and went in for his two month check up. He is doing fantastic, and growing well. He is in the 57th percentil for length (23 inches!!) and the 43rd percentile for weight (11 pounds!!!). He has outgrown all of the 0-3 month stuff and we have gotten to break out the super cute 3-6 month outfits (although those 3-6 month onsies are kinda small and are on their way to the "too small" box as well). And in spite of the fact that we are following the alternate vaccination schedule written by Dr. Bob Sears in order to remove some of the threat of autism, Brayden was subjected to his first vaccinations today. One was oral, and very confusing for the little guy. The second was a sharp poke in the leg and we both cried. Jeremiah tried to comfort me while Brayden just snuggled down into the relief that is my arms. Nobody told me that motherhood would turn me into such a crier...just add it to the list of things no one ever tells you, I guess!

And I will conclude this posting with the much celebrated news that Brayden has officially slept through the night! From 11 p.m to just about 5 a.m., and I felt like a new woman. I woke up at 4:45, the milk factory warning impending explosion, and thought "I feel great! I could run a marathon...it's going to be a beautiful day...everything is beautiful!" I think my delirius brain has gotten used to functioning in bits and pieces of sleep and was completely thrown off by the six hours of no interuptions.

I have been trying to upload a video for the last week and just can't seem to get it to work. I'll keep trying though!

I couldn't resist adding this one all by itself!

New Pictures-7 Weeks

Our little one is growing and learing so fast. His beautiful smiles could shade the sun, and today he uttered his first double consant coo. Not that he coo's a ton...he would rather wiggle his excitment! He has started to interact with his play mat, and we found a couple of rattles that he grabs hold of. He has also mastered a pretty good scream. He seems to have bad dreams that he sometimes can't shake (yesterday he cried for a full three minutes without ever waking up). And that whole "just let him cry for 15 minutes" business-that just seems to make Brayden angry. Apparently it is supposed to tire him out and then he will have a good sleep. But Brayden, blessed with both temper and stuborness from his mom and dad, just gets PISSED! Luckily, it doesn't happen very often, but Peanut and Griz have both decided we are crazy. Yesterday Grizzly came and sat next to the couch while Brayden was crying it out and stared at me, and stared and stared. I went to the door to see if he had to pee, and he just stared me down. Peanut follows hot on my heels when Brayden is trying to cry it out...as if to say "are you going to take care of that?!". I think they are wondering when we are going to take him back! :)

Here are some cute pictures that we got this week.
